I worked with Gordy  during my years at WMVR and he was one of the hardest working people-oriented personalities in Ohio radio...and he never let his local success and following go to his head.  He loved music and he loved people...just as the late Gene "By Golly" Barry of WING did back in his time.

Gordy was one of the good ones in radio...and he will be sadly missed by his fans,freinds,family and by those who worked with him...myself included. Gordy died on Sunday August 23rd at his Celina,Ohio residence. His funeral Mass of Christain burial was on Friday August 28th at Holy Angels Catholic Church in Sidney....and was buried next to his parents Jack and Roselyn at Graceland Cemetery. Upon learning of his passing when I was on the Ohio boards at http://www.radio-info.com/ I sent WCIT program director Phil Austin (Gordy's cousin) an aircheck of his afternoon show from December of 1974.

Afterward Phil wrote me back thanking me for this "prized possession"  which Gordy himself allowed me to make a copy of for posterity. Phil went on to say that he and the folks at Maverick Media were in hopes of bringing Gordy back on the air at WCIT before his sudden passing.
